Brain Injury Webinar: Evidence-Based Treatment for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

Brain Injury Webinar: Evidence-Based Treatment for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is proudly presented to you by Brain Injury Association of North Carolina's Online Learning Center. Thank you. We hope that you enjoy your course.

Live Webinar Date:  6/28/22

Veterans suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, or PTSD, experience intense responses to stimuli, including flashbacks, anxiety, and combative or protective behavior. The intensity of this hyperarousal can cause veterans to avoid experiences that trigger symptoms and become emotionally numb, detached, or withdrawn—all hallmarks of PTSD. This webinar discussing how PTSD presents and the evidence-based practices involved in treatment.

Speaker:  Justin Johnson MD

Dr. Johnson is a board-certified psychiatrist who serves as HopeWay’s Director of Veteran Services. He has expertise in PTSD and TBI, men’s mental health, military and Veteran mental health, the care of patients with complex co-occurring medical and psychiatric disorders, and psychotherapy. Previously, he treated patients at the Durham VA’s Iraq and Afghanistan combat Veteran clinic. He is currently an Assistant Consulting Professor of Psychiatry at Duke University School of Medicine, where he supervises Duke trainees. In addition to HopeWay and Duke, Dr. Johnson currently serves in the U.S. Army Reserve, has deployed in support of several operations, and is interested in military medicine. He continues to publish in academic journals and is a regularly invited speaker at conferences on the topic of psychiatric care for the combat Veteran.
