Brain Injury Webinar: Art Therapy

Brain Injury Webinar: Art Therapy is proudly presented to you by Brain Injury Association of North Carolina's Online Learning Center. Thank you. We hope that you enjoy your course.

Live Webinar Date: 6/15/21 Art therapy is used as part of the rehabilitation process after brain injury to help individuals use their cognitive skills, express emotions, and communicate through the means of art. Along the way, focus on strengths and expression can help create a new sense of self, bring upon acceptance, and help reduce negative mental health symptoms. This is particularly true for those in the military or veterans that experience a brain injury to help process strong feelings and memories. Join us on this webinar to get your hands dirty and see how using art can help unlock potential.

Speaker:

Art therapy has been used with many disciplines and disabilities over the years. After a brain injury, functionality might have changed making expressing yourself or doing activities you enjoyed more challenging. Using art as a creative expression can help act as an outlet for mental or cognitive health, and when done with an art therapist, a deeper look at art can be used in the healing process and rehabilitation goals can be further achieved. I’m thankful to have Alice Stewart, a certified art therapist to discuss art therapy and how her experience at the Intrepid Center in the Department of Brain Injury Medicine has allowed her to assist active duty military members with mild traumatic brain injury through art.
