There are many barriers to securing and maintaining a job after a brain injury. For many, the process is complicated and employment professionals offer an opportunity for growth and having another person to achieve their goals with. There is hope after brain injury and for many that want to have a job, there can be options for them - it just might take extra knowledge and training involved.
This course provides an overview about brain injury and the resulting changes that can impact employment. Through interactive probelm solving with case studies, examples, activities, and challenge questions, participants will explore the steps to successful employment for individuals with brain injury. Specific considerations questions to be used in practice, accommodations, and communication strategies are also discussed and how to help empower individuals to achieving their goals.
This course is targeted for professionals & providers within and outside the scope of brain injury that focus on employment after a brain injury, including rehabilitation counselors, job specialists, case managers, care coordinators, case managers, employers, qualified or direct care professionals, residential providers, allied health, and anyone interested in learning more about brain injury and employment. However, individuals living with brain injury and their carers can definitely find use in this course as well for learning strategies, resources, or to help advocate for more empowerment to their employment services.
